AN EVENING OF BURLESQUE GETS AMAZING REVIEW FROM THE STAGE NEWSPAPER!

An Evening of Burlesque
Published Friday 5 October 2012 by Mark Ritchie
….All red lips and wiggling derrieres, the enthusiastic audience is soon making whoopee and joining in the fun.
Burlesque and variety are closely related within the history of both the European and American versions of the art. The audience clearly enjoys a real variety experience, with comedy sketches and a great knife throwing act by AJ James. All of this plus the extraordinary Kalki Hula Girl…
Other highlights include Amber Topaz, who produces a supper from her bra while performing the song Tits and Ass from A Chorus Line. Once chicken legs are removed, what remains of her skimpy outfit lights up like a lingerie Christmas tree.
Those looking for the future of variety might do well to research its past. The cyclical nature of show business may indicate that the current resurgence in interest for burlesque should be reflected on television.
“Despite this show’s over-18s policy at the box office, there is nothing here but good naughty fun, with nipple tassels and killer heels all adding to the visual impact”.

BEE GEES TRIBUTE IN THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC.

THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC®
The UK’s No 1 live concert tribute show to Bee Gees & ABBA
Thank You for the Music will be paying a special tribute to the memory Robin Gibb during the remaining shows on its latest UK concert tour. . .
The successful stage show features all of the Bee Gees’ million-selling hits including Night Fever, How Deep is Your Love, Jive Talkin’ and Massachusetts plus chart-toppers written by the Gibb brothers including Islands in the Stream and Chain Reaction.
“No other British band has made as big an impact on pop music history,” says Martin Spooner, who plays Robin Gibb in the show.
“They shaped the sound of pop music in the Sixties, ‘invented’ disco with the soundtrack of the film Saturday Night Fever in the Seventies and they wrote career-defining hits for many, many other artists.”
Number one hits Islands in the Stream, Chain Reaction and Woman in Love – recorded by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, Diana Ross and Barbara Streisand respectively – are all performed in Thank You for the Music; which has been described as the UK’s most authentic Bee Gees and ABBA revue show.
“Not only were the Gibb brothers prolific recording artists,” says Martin, “notching up a reported 220 million sales worldwide, they were master songwriters. Their music spanned three decades and their songs define pop music from a period that the world looks back on so fondly today.”
Martin, the cast of Thank You for the Music and the producers of the show wish to extend their condolences to Robin Gibb’s family and friends. An extra-special tribute will be included during the forthcoming performance in celebration of his incredible contribution to the world of music.
“Robin’s distinctive vibrato vocals will be remembered forever thanks to the scores of classic songs he took to the top of the charts,” says Martin.
The stars of Thank You for the Music claim that everyone has a favourite Bee Gees song.
“Youngsters in our audiences, who dance and sing along to the Bee Gees’ classics performed, wouldn’t have been born when the Bee Gees originally released their hits. Yet they know every word of the majority of the songs.
“That, concludes Martin, “underlines the genius and everlasting charm of Robin, Maurice and Barry Gibb – the greatest singer songwriters of our time.”

40 YEARS OF ABBA HITS!!!
by admin
Feb.07, 2012
Thank You For The Music is now enjoying its 19th year on tour performing ABBA’s million-selling hits!
40 years ago original ABBA members Anni-Frid Lyngstad (Frida), Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Agnetha Faltskog released their first material under the name ABBA in 1972. After winning the Eurovision Song Contest with the single Waterloo the following year, the quartet went on to record 19 top 20 hits, topping the charts on no less than nine occasions.
“Few bands can claim to have made as big an impact on British pop music history,” says Martin Spooner, who plays Bjorn in Thank You for the Music.
Their million-selling hits – such as Dancing Queen; Super Trouper, Knowing Me, Knowing You; The Name of the Game; Mamma Mia and Take a Chance on Me – are eternal. ABBA’s music is as popular today as it was in their Seventies and Eighties heyday.
