I have held off from booking Burlesque for so long as I wanted a professional, polished, sexy and fun show for the theatre. You delivered that in bucket loads last night. With so many out there flooding this art form, it was wonderful to watch a troupe of girls at the top of their game, all bringing more than just a little bump and grind. A very talented cast, ably supported and strengthened with speciality acts Piff the Maguc Dragon and Kalki Hoola Girl. Brilliant, the audience loved it, here’s to next time!

“…It would be fair to say that burlesque has come a long way from its roots in Greek satire, to nineteenth century music halls, to The Hexagon theatre. Over the past two decades neo-burlesque has turned heads, seduced social scenes, and will soon be seen gracing The Big Screen.…The art of burlesque incorporates old school glamour, style and pure sexiness - no sleaze just tease. Add sporadic injections of humor, magic, fabulous music from across the decades and an abundance of theatrical treats, and you have one hell of a show.Mr.Piffles, and the phenomenal Kalki Hula Girl (Wow, please see You Tube). Not to mention somewhat amusing audience participation throughout (Thank you Nigel!).tantalizing. The only thing left to do at the end of the night was to ponder putting into practice the new ways of removing one’s stockings. They made it look so simple, how hard could it be? ”
“…There were corsets, killer heels, and stockings aplenty, with costumes all presenting imagery of eras long gone. The ever so pretty and sensational Hotcake Kitty opened to a rather shy audience, although by the time she flaunted her (shopping) goods in the second half they were ready for her. When Slinky Sparkles, the cupcake cutie, took to the floor, the audience had indeed warmed up “like foreplay”. Marianne Cheesecake brought 40’s Hollywood glamour to the stage, before removing it with ease and sophistication. The divine Chrys Columbine was not only a figure of sheer elegance, with her dramatic and sensual performances, including strobe lighting and giant feathered fans, but she is also an exquisite concert pianist. They were all truly remarkable women.
The multi-talented Amber Topaz hosted the evening with panache, charm and pure cheekiness. Not only was she incredibly beautiful and likeable but, boy could the girl belt out a tune, and dazzle with her moves. There were some refreshing boobless pauses for variety, with the deadpan Piff the Magic Dragon and his pup.
It was an exhilarating night’s entertainment - tasteful but, oh so…”

“. . . Because it didn’t seem sleazy or seedy – in fact, it was rather charming and lovely. Yes, the ladies strip down to their extremely skimpy underwear, with just a few well-placed sequins and tassels preserving their modesty. But it really is done, to quote Kenny Everett, in the best possible taste.
Not only were the acts fun and witty, but some were actually beautiful and rather moving, which is rather an achievement.
Fortunately our hostess, local girl Kiki Kaboom, was on hand to guide us through the etiquette of a burlesque show, which basically involved ooh-ing, aah-ing and cheering for more. The audience was game for a laugh and the atmosphere was already a warm one when the first act took to the stage.
From the rather raucous Hot Cake Kitty to the coquettish charm of Slinky Sparkles, the girls came in all shapes and sizes. Teaming fantastic costumes, hair and make-up with performances that oozed attitude and confidence, these girls seem to transport us back to a classier, more elegant time. . .
. . . The two non-burlesque acts on the bill were Piff the Magic Dragon, a deadpan comic whose sagging costume made his ‘bad magician’ act even more amusing, and Kalki Hula Girl. From the moment she began her jaw-dropping act, Kalki had the audience in the palm of her hand and entertained with her physical comedy as well as her superhuman hula skills. . .”

WHILE rippling derrieres and buoyant bosoms shook the stage, the real pleasure of the burlesque show was all tease and no sleaze.
More than a glorified striptease, the performance emulated classical burlesque without appearing dated with its modern rendition.
The mixture of exquisite vintage lingerie and clownish mischief made this show amusing and absurd, titillating and toe-curling.
Audience participation made for an entertaining night, not least because members of the audience were dressed to impress in corsets and feather boas.
While the show did not attempt the impossible - to break any new taboos - it focused instead on enterprising female empowerment, a theme that is at the forefront of the resurgence of burlesque.
A confident performance by Amber Topaz tickled the fancy of gentlemen and sent waves of giggles amongst ladies as the audience watched her wobbling posterior in awe.
Expertly tearing off tights with her teeth and shimmying her way out of an hourglass corset Amber Topaz entertained the audience with her worldly wise ways.
Meanwhile sultry vocals formed the backdrop to a sensationally sensuous show which celebrated the female form as art.
Show producer Michael Taylor said: “The performance brings variety back to the theatre, combining musical and theatrical parody with the art of striptease, magic, comedy and dance.
“Elegant showgirls combine Parisian charm with Las Vegas glamour in a spectacle that marries live vocal talent with the art of burlesque.”
An Evening of Burlesque was compered by the delectable Kiki Kaboom and included the cream of British burlesque talent including Miss Hotcake Kitty, Amber Topaz, Miss Slinky Sparkles, Ginger Blush and The Kalki Hula Girl.

It was sequins, stilettos, stockings and a whole bucket of sauciness as An Evening of Burlesque sent temperatures soaring at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.
An audience of mainly women painted their faces and pulled on their glad rags for a night of dry humour and worship of all things feminine.
From sizzling striptease with balloons, feathers, fans, hula hoops and even a bit of Little Bo Peep – these sultry glamour pusses provided an evening of rather elegant entertainment.
A deadpan dragon – Piff –complete with a Chihuahua – Mr Piffles – completed the comedy line up with his fairly rubbish magic but brilliantly indifferent delivery.
Lingerie model Slinky Sparkles brought some Hollywood glamour as she dished up cupcakes in little more than a pair of tassels, a seemingly intoxicated Kalki Hula Girl also had heads in a spin with a breathtaking routine.
Rochdale starlet Amber Topaz gave Beyonce a run for her money as she shook her behind and belted out the show tunes
The focus was firmly on humour and despite the acres of female flesh on display, the show is tasteful throughout.
